It begins as a spark.
As life is wont to do, it grows into a flame. Subject yet to time and circumstance, we nurture this light and grow it the only way we know how - through experience. By the time we come to reflection, we have hopefully cultivated a space from which we can look in the rearview mirror with compassion and not a little levity, and commit further to growing our light, these radiant hearts of ours.
So too our practice begins, encouraging us to establish first our space and then the expansion of radiant heart. What begins as a spark grows into a beacon; the rib cage expands and opens on all sides and in movement forward, up, and away from the earth. The light of radiant heart is one of resilience, of buoyancy, and one that asks us to continue growing even in the midst of uncertainty. And when we welcome a heart centered practice on our mats, we express in physical form the light of this upward-rising energy.
We are tethered, tied by this life experience to ourselves and one another, and so as this year comes to a close let us also celebrate together. May we do so in a practice that helps us cultivate a positive and compassionate heart while reminding us that what we leave behind is not the least important. Let us welcome this new year, one day, one light, one spark at a time.
Happy New Year Bowspringers!
